| Patty
Baker
Profession: wife, and mother of two young
girls, 4 and 7 yrs.
Political affiliation: Democrat
Reason for getting involved in LUC:
We want to protect our right, and other vacant landowners'
rights to build on our property. I have read many of the horror
stories of Boulder County landowners and their dealings with
the Boulder County Land Use Department and Commissioners.

| Betty
Gibbs
Profession: Mining Engineer, mother of 4,
grandmother of 3
Political affiliation: Independent
Reason for getting involved in LUC: I have
lived in the mountains west of Boulder for 29 years. I don't
have any immediate building issues, but am deeply angered
about the County depriving other people of their plans for
homes. My grown children cannot afford to live here because
of the high cost of housing.
Interests and other affiliations: my children
and grandchildren, and helping them build a good life. Recycling,
food co-op, genealogy, and enjoying the outdoors.
|
 |
Until recently
I have not been politically active, but am drawn to doing what I can
to improve the grossly unfair conditions I am seeing in the County.

| Ann
Mygatt
Profession: Attorney, wife, mother & grandmother.
MPA, Univ. of Colorado, J.D. Univ. of Wisconsin
Political Affiliation: Democrat
Reason for getting involved in LUC:
I believe in the democratic process, and believe
that with group action we can effect positive changes in our
local government.
|
 |
| This
group is dedicated to the ideals of citizen participation, and
is enthusiastic, focussed on positive action and governmental
accountability to the people. I believe we can make a difference
in how land use decisions are made in Boulder County.
I am currently in Site Plan Review, and only
recently learned about land use practices in Boulder County,
how difficult and expensive the process has been made to build
a modest house in the mountains: The land use regulations
and the way they are applied here have made it prohibitive
for the average person to build, and impossible for many.
The attitude on the part of the County seems to be: "If
you don't like it, sue us", and the land use staff makes
little or no attempt to alleviate the distress of the landowner
who is often ground to dust by the bureaucratic process.
Interest and Affiliations: Boulder County
Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Bar Foundation,
Interdisciplinary Committee on Child Custody (Board of Directors),
Penfield Tate Inn of Court, former member of POSAC.

| Kevin
Probst
Profession: Engineer, Scientist and Entrepreneur
in High Tech Areas.
Principal and Founder of The CORE Group, Inc., President of
Probst Consulting.
Political affiliation: Independent Conservative
Reason for getting involved in LUC: One of
the foundations of our freedom in America is the right of
individuals to own and control private property. When government
undermines that right by intimidation, unfair and subjective
regulations and heavy handed policies, it undermines our freedom.
|
 |
| I do
not want our community to be governed by petty bureaucrats who
create an atmosphere of intimidation and fear.
Interests and other affiliations: Hiking,
skiing, fishing, writing and performing guitar music and songs,
Scrabble, landscaping, officer in the Air Force Reserves,
pilot, dad.
On the Steering, Special Events and Activities
Committees, Land Use Coalition.
